Sensitive Skin Care Tips

Almost 70% of the world’s population report to have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is very complex as it can change with various seasons and at different stages of life. It also depends on the type of products used over time. Sensitive skin needs special care to retain its original texture and pH balance. Here are a few tips for organic skincare for sensitive skin.

Cleansing
Frequent cleaning of sensitive skin should be avoided as water can be an irritant. Limit cleansing to twice a day and use simple and mild cleansers that are gentle on the skin. A mild cleanser made at home with honey and extra virgin coconut oil can do wonders on the skin. To make this cleanser, take three tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil in a bowl, add a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of baking soda, and mix well. Store the mixture in an airtight container for regular use. Cleanse the skin with a small quantity of this mixture every day by massaging it for five minutes and let it sit for five more minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. Coconut oil has anti-aging properties and can remove dirt like makeup without any hassle. Honey nourishes and heals damaged skin and baking soda exfoliates dead skin cells and toxins.

Toning
Toning the skin is a very important tip for organic skincare, which is a part of the cleansing routine. A toner helps in removing extra dirt and oil which is left behind after cleansing. A toner also helps in nourishing, soothing, and hydrating the skin to maintain its pH balance. Simple homemade toners can work miraculously on sensitive skin. Toner made from green tea and apple cider vinegar helps in cleaning pores, balances oil production, and soothes inflamed skin. To make this toner, take 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, 3/4 cup of strongly brewed green tea, and mix well to store in a spray bottle. Use the mixture regularly after the cleansing process to maintain healthy-looking skin.

Moisturizing
Moisturizers play an important role in trapping and replenishing moisture at the epidermal layer. Moisturizers make the skin look healthy and wrinkle-free. They also reduce skin blemishes and even out skin tone. An important tip for organic skincare is to use a good moisturizer that allows your skin to breathe effortlessly by maintaining the pH level of the skin. Use a homemade shea butter moisturizer to nourish sensitive skin. To make this mixture, take 1/4 cup of shea butter, add two tablespoons of jojoba oil in a glass jar. Heat the mixture by placing the jar on a pan filled with water till it melts completely. Let it cool for 20 minutes and transfer it to a wider glass bowl. To this mixture, add three tablespoons of aloe vera juice, one teaspoon of vitamin E oil, and mix well for 10 minutes. Now add six drops of lavender, rose, and frankincense oil each, and mix well to store in an airtight container. Let the mixture sit overnight to harden, and it can be used as normal after that. Shea butter is filled with vitamins and fatty acids that help in protecting the skin from harmful conditions.
